A good quality “Edwardian” mahogany BAROGRAPH in perfect working order by Sharman & Neill of Belfast. In fine condition throughout the mechanism includes an eight-section bellows; 8-day clockwork movement and separate thermometer, whilst the case has a lower drawer with good quantity of unused charts. Engraved presentation plaque and separate maker’s label. 15ins wide.

** For those who may not know, a barograph shows barometric pressure and records this on a chart fitted to a clockwork revolving drum. Typically the charts record the pressure on a week-by-week basis as a constantly moving line, via a pen which is connected to the part-vacuum bellows.  Thus it can be seen how atmospheric pressure constantly changes and a good degree of weather forecasting can be achieved.
