A ‘striking’, impressive and large late 19th century or Edwardian period BRONZE SCULPTURE by Gustav Daumiller, supported on a shallow variegated red marble plinth. It is signed “A. Daumiller” within the integral bronze base. 18.5ins (46cms) high. Probably circa 1900-1910.

* Gustav Adolf DAUMILLER was born in Germany in 1876 and died in Munich 1962.  The fourth of ten children, he began his artistic studies in 1898 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, moving to London to continue his studies (1902-1904) and then to Paris (1904-1907).  In addition to becoming a successful and sought-after sculptor, he was also a medallist.   In the British Museum can be found a  collection of 21 of his medals which he produced in the 1890-1919 period.
